Dr. Douglas Denson is an Oral Surgery Specialist in Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated with honors from University Of Alabama School Of Dentistry in 2012. Having more than 9 years of diverse experiences, especially in oral surgery, Dr. Douglas Austin Denson affiliates with Brookwood Medical Center, cooperates with many other doctors and specialists in medical group Koslin And Kahn, P.c..

Dr. Jay Durham is a native of Fort Payne, Alabama. He attended Auburn University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology. While attending Auburn University, Dr. Durham belonged to the Phi Eta Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi, and Alpha Epsilon Delta honor societies. After completing his degree, Dr. Durham received a Dental Merit scholarship to attend the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham.

Upon graduation from dental school in 2006, Dr. Durham received several honors. He was recognized for being on the Dean’s List each quarter for all four years of dental school. In addition, he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. He also received the American Association of Orthodontists Award for exceptional interest in the development of the orofacial complex.

After completion of dental school, Dr. Durham soon entered into a residency program at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. While there, he successfully completed the Phase II written exam of the American Board of Orthodontics in April, 2008. Then, he completed his three-year residency program in April, 2009. After completing his residency, he earned his Master of Science degree with his master’s thesis titled, “A Comparison of Two Soft Tissue Gingivectomy Techniques.”

In order to stay in touch with his peers and to keep up-to-date with the latest in orthodontics, he is a member of many organizations, including the:

  • American Dental Association

  • American Association of Orthodontists

  • Alabama Association of Orthodontists (Past President)

  • Alabama Dental Association

  • Eighth District Dental Society

  • Wilson-Chenault Dental Study Club

  • Huntsville-Madison Dental Society

Dr. Durham and his wife, Kelly, have four children, Wyatt (8), Tucker (6), Riley (4), and Miller (2). Kelly is a Physician Assistant at Dermatology Associates, PC in Huntsville. In addition, the Durhams are passionate about their opportunity here in Madison and enjoy working with the community. During his free time, Dr. Durham enjoys spending time with friends and family, hunting, and watching college football.


Dr. Lauten Johnson has been our fearless leader at Pediatric and Adolescent Dentistry since its very beginning in 2010. His goal is and always has been to give children the best dental care possible. Dr. Johnson completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) at UAB and obtained his Alabama State Dental License in 2006. He completed his residency in pediatrics in 2008 and is Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Johnson is also certified in the use of oral sedation and has privileges at Children’s Hospital and when needed can take a child to general anesthesia. In 2006, he won two clinical awards in excellence at UAB. First, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Pre-Doctoral Student Award which is given to the student with the greatest proficiency and interest in Pediatric Dentistry. Secondly, the Birmingham District Dental Society Award for outstanding clinical ability.

Currently, Dr. Johnson is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association.

Dr. Johnson is also founder of The Smile Foundation. Yearly, he leads a team to Mexico where they provide dental and medical services to the underprivileged. But his most favorite thing to do is spend time with his 3 amazing kids: Callie, Sanders and Mary Carmen.



Dr. Kennedy Walker, Day Eye Care (Gardendale, AL)

A graduate of University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry, Dr. Kennedy Walker is an optometrist affiliated with Day Optometry Clinic Pc. She specializes in diagnosis and treatment of  vision problems for both kids and adults. Dr. Walker is a member of the American Optometric Association, Alabama Optometric Association, Birmingham Optometric Association, and the Junior League of Birmingham.

Dr. Ashley Williams, Preferred Eye Care (Selma, AL)

Dr. Ashley Williams received her B.S. from Auburn University and her Doctorate in Optometry from The University of Alabama School of Optometry in Birmingham, Alabama. She has practiced in Selma for over sixteen years. She is currently a member of the Alabama State Board of Optometry and represents the 7th Congressional District.

Dr. Williams specializes in primary eye care, including comprehensive adult and pediatric eye examinations. She prescribes eyeglasses, various types of contact lenses, and comanages LASIK surgery for patients with refractive needs. She detects and manages eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetes, and is able to provide preoperative and postoperative care for those needing surgical intervention.

Dr. Williams recently participated in her third medical mission trip. This year she was part of The Smile Foundation team which provided dental and eye care to those in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. She is planning to return next spring and if you are interested in donating glasses to this worthwhile cause, please drop them off at Preferred Eye Care!

Aside from her professional life, Dr. Williams has two children, Ed and Rhyne. Together they enjoy sporting events, fishing, and weekly dinners at the local Mexican restaurant and much more. She plays tennis and enjoys spending time with her friends. Dr. Williams is a member of the Benton United Methodist Church where she sings in the choir, plays the piano, and co-teaches the Adult Sunday School Class.
